Welcome!
Welcome to our cottage on Oakwood Street! We are a small family with two little ones, and we recently renovated this 100-year old cottage to be a warm, cozy beach bungalow. We grew up spending summers in Bethany Beach, and we can’t wait to share our home and town with you.
Regarding this old house… with character comes quirks. Unlike a fine wine, beach homes don’t always age well. We’ve made improvements to complement your beach days, walks into town, sunset dinners, and the like; but, we have a ways to go. Please bear with us on the unique aspects of the home and any feedback from your stay is greatly appreciated.
We love our little cottage and hope you do, too. We ask that you please be respectful of our lovely neighbors and to please follow the instructions outlined below. We have also provided a recommendation sheet of our favorite places if you are unfamiliar with the area. Again, welcome, enjoy your stay, and please provide feedback in the guest book so we can make your stay even more enjoyable next time!
instructions:
Our WiFi network name is ‘Titone wifi’ and the password is ‘1Greatlife!’. The modem is located hehind the sofa in the Living Room. There is a WiFi booster in the Master bedroom because the signal isn’t as strong in the back of the house. The network name for the booster is, ‘Titone wifi_2G(or5G)EXT.’
Trash pickup days are Monday and Friday mornings. Recycling pick up is on Wednesday mornings. Please pull the trash and recycling bins to the street prior to pick up on these days. Another note: Please bag trash (hey, you’d be surprised).
This is a non-smoking house; please refrain from doing so on the premises but especially indoors (as we mentioned, we have small children).
Please rinse sand off prior to entering the house. You can find a hose on the side yard and an outdoor shower for rinsing off by the back door.
On the topic of sand… it clogs bath drains and laundry machines. Kindly ensure that all sand is removed from your person and your clothes before bathing and using the washer/dryer. This house may be old, but these appliances are new—we’d love to keep it that way.
Please refrain from putting fruit pits, bottle caps, trash, or “everything and the kitchen sink” into the kitchen sink disposal.
Please be mindful of the AC/Heat and keep windows and doors closed if in use. Please keep temperature set to 68-72 degrees.
We have smart TV’s in the Living room and Master bedroom and Google Chromecast set up in the twin bedroom. Feel free to connect through the Google Home app and streaming services. There is also a DVD player and DVD’s in the Living room for your use.
If you use the BBQ grill, please make sure it is pulled far enough away from the house so as to not touch or damage the siding or windows.
If you use the firepit, please be mindful of the neighbors and keep flames low and smoke to a minimum. Again, the house is 100 years old and all wood siding. Enjoy, but please don’t leave fire unattended and be careful.
The tub/shower is a unique feature in the home and can sometimes be a little tricky. Please be careful getting in and out and keep an eye out for any standing water that can sometimes accumulate behind the tub. If this happens, please use one of the extra towels to soak up the water and hang the towel on the clothes line or laddars in the back to dry.
Please refrain from moving or re-arranging the furniture. The house is small and some items are delicate, so we found a home for everything as best we could and would appreciate it if they stayed where they are.
The longboard surfboards on the porch are display only. Feel free to use the bodyboards, swim fins, shortboard surfboard, chairs, and fishing rods, but please put back where you found them when you are done using. Also be aware that we have a ‘you break it you buy it’ rule for the house and you will be charged if anything is broken or missing. This applies to everything in the house.
